Exploring Watercolor (July 8, 22, and 29) 6:30-8:30 PM

In this three part series students will learn a variety of watercolor techniques that will help them to better understand and explore the medium. The culminating project for the course will involve a larger watercolor project which will take place over the course of two class sessions. Below is a breakdown of each class day.

Class 1: Exploring Drawing Techniques and Basic Watercolor

In this first lesson, students will be introduced to different drawing techniques that will help them to better understand how to draw with confidence. Students will leave this lesson with an increased awareness of drawing and a little homework for the next lesson. A basic overview of watercolor technique will be taught in order to aid students in the next two lessons as well as give them a chance to explore the technique more at home.

Class 2: Experimentation

Through the drawing work that students completed in the first lesson, the teacher will give a more thorough overview of the larger project. This will launch a greater experimentation with watercolor, the different achievable techniques, and a small scale project for this lesson.

Class 3: Integrating Technique

In this final class, students will work on their larger project. Using the technical information from the previous two class periods and with the aid of the teacher, they will work to more fully explore the medium of watercolor through their lager project.
